🤬 Amazon is tackling phony reviews
📰 TL;DR - Phony reviews suck, I think we can all agree on that. Amazon is trying to tackle the problem with a three-step plan. First, they’re going after scammers. These are people that flood a product with bad reviews in order to extort the seller. Obviously, Amazon isn’t a fan of that and they’ve taken legal action against 94 bad actors. They’re also encouraging local governments to work with them in these efforts, as well as working with third-party sites that abusers use to place the bad reviews.
💡 Insight - This is an interesting look behind the curtain. According to this article, Amazon has proactively blocked over 200 million suspected fake reviews. It also suggests — hopefully! — that if you run into these issues Amazon will be willing to help. Also take this as a reminder that if you think a review is suspicious, follow your gut. There’s a whole cottage industry of these scammers.

💡 Insight - I really appreciate when experts like Keval share this information. SEO can seem like an overwhelming task, especially when there are experts out there gatekeeping information. Truthfully hiring an SEO professional isn’t a bad idea, but not all of us can afford that. This thread is a good guide to what you can achieve all on your own.
