💳 Is this company the future of e-commerce checkout?
📰 TL;DR - Checkout company Rally has secured a sweet $12 million in funding in their effort to be the future of e-commerce checkout. Currently, their one-click checkout sells itself on post-purchase upgrades, like prompting customers to add another item or sign up for a subscription. They have a two-pronged approach: integration with existing platforms and a new headless offering.
💡 Insight - This is what we like to see: more competition for e-commerce software and the innovation that should come along with it. What’s interesting is that Rally works outside the Shopify ecosystem, offering another viable option to merchants. Will we see Shopify’s e-comm supremacy slip away in the coming years? What would make you make the switch?

🧶 Etsy shuttering selling app for new one
📰 TL;DR - A major FYI to Etsy sellers: the platform is shutting down their old mobile app for sellers in favor of their new one, the Etsy Seller App. Why they created a whole new app I’m not sure, but it has some upgrades from the old version including an improved ability to manage your listings. It also has better social sharing capabilities.
💡 Insight - If you’re an Etsy seller, it’s time to make the switch. I’ve used both apps and while I sort of miss the old one, the new one puts fresh emphasis on your reviews and feedback. This is probably because Etsy is deadset on their Star Seller program, even if small sellers aren’t a fan.
📚 Brand loyalty 101
📰 TL;DR - Here’s a breezy overview of what brand loyalty means for e-comm businesses. It starts with a solid product, but includes excellent customer service, a strong brand identity, creating a loyalty program, and personalizing communications with your customers. We know that loyal customers are the ones who keep coming back and spend more per order, so this is important stuff.
💡 Insight - This article is a pretty basic overview, but a good place to start and definitely worth reading for new entrepreneurs. After browsing this, do some deeper dives, such as this article from Hubspot on how to build a loyalty program. Also have a look through your chosen e-commerce platform’s app store, you’ll find plenty of options for programs or other boosts.
✨ Google Shopping + AI = profit
📰 TL;DR - Search Engine Journal has a rundown of how to use Google Shopping and AI together to increase sales for e-comm businesses. For example, you can use price difference data to stay competitive or use data to optimize titles and data. It can also help with how much you’re bidding.
💡 Insight - If you’re more of a product person, this may be a little over your head, but it’s also great insight into just how detailed you can be with your Google Shopping strategy. The article includes a form to sign up for a webinar presented by Bidbrain to dig in deeper.
