Q&Aā€™s WITH IBRAHIM

Heyy!

Itā€™s Friday, so letā€™s answer some Q&As..

Question from Latoya Fuller (CEO):How to get good sales without paying for ads on social media ?

My Response: This is a good question, and I think there are a lot of people out there that would be interested in this as well, so in the coming weeks, Iā€™ll dedicate one of the deep dives to answer this question. Stay tuned!

Question from Shannon (Owner): I recently read the newsletter on landing pages and am considering implementing some in my business. Iā€™m just wondering if itā€™s possible / you recommend doing a landing page within Shopify or if Iā€™d need to go with something like Clickfunnels or Leadpages? Iā€™d prefer to keep it all under the shopify house for payments, analytics, etcā€¦ but am not sure if thatā€™d be wise.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

~Shannon

My Response: You can definitely do within Shopify, but the problem with that is, your loading speed will typically be quite slow, and speed is one of the reasons why people should be building a landing page in the first place.

The reason why a landing page built on Shopify would typically be slow is because while you just need a single page for a landing page, this page will still be synced to all the apps you use within Shopify, so it triggers a lot of the codes that isnā€™t really necessary to load this specific landing page, resulting in slower speed.

This is why I highly recommend a landing page tool such as Replo. And if your design is made on Figma, youā€™d totally love Replo. The best part is, Replo still lets you edit a few things within Shopify as well, and you can keep all the apps within Shopify itself, and only connect a few apps to Replo thatā€™s required, such as reviews app, smart cart, accessibility, chatbot, etc. and they make it really easy as well, and not to worry, Replo just acts as a frontend, all the backend will still be managed by Shopify such as payments, orders, etc.

Also please note, weā€™re not affiliated with Replo, but I should probably get them on board to sponsor us because I keep raving about them anyway :D

Hope that helps.

Question from Avi (Founder):Having been in busines for 16 years now - Its safe to say we have "tried" it all. From og internet days of growth hacking, Ad's, influencers, wholesale sprints, you name it - we dabbled.

My question follows, but first if I may, let me bring you up to current speed. At the end of 2023 we let go of our team of 7 and reverting back to the deeeeep cut of basics. Now that we have gone through the shock of $40k/months > $10k months, there is some normalcy at hand.

What are some unconventional was a brand like our with seniority in the space, make noise using the massive moat of real fans/customers to help propel us upward?

My Response: In this case, it would be hard for me to answer this question straight off because Iā€™d need to know what exactly the issue was due to which you came down to $10k months from $40K months.

The brand I work withā€”Peelaways, is also in the seniority space, so I know I can share a few things that could be of help.

In any case, Iā€™d love to help you out, so you can book a free call with me here and we can take it from there. And since youā€™ve been in the space for 16 years now, Iā€™m sure Iā€™ll get to learn a thing or two from you as well :)

Email from Santiago:Hi Ibrahim,

I have a question I would appreciate feedback on if possible.

When building a media team, is it fair to expect media buyers (google/meta) to hold responsibility for strategy?

I know in the agency life many people wear different hats, however, although it makes sense in my mind for a media buyers to also wear the strategy hat, I feel that thorough strategy takes a back-seat when your time is consumed by executing media buying.

Iā€™d appreciate any thoughts if possible. Thanks!

Santiago

My Response: This is a great question!

If you ask me, itā€™s definitely fair to expect media buyers to hold responsible for strategy, as long as you donā€™t expect them to build out a strategy for something outside their net, such as, a strategy for influencer marketing for example. But just to be safe, you need to set these expectations up front when youā€™re hiring an agency, so thereā€™s no issues later on.

One of the things that I mostly common see with most DTC brands is, they hire an agency for media buying, hire a different agency for email/SMS marketing, and again, hire another agency to help with websites/landing pages. A big problem here is, these 3 agencies usually donā€™t co-ordinate anything among themselves, and that leads to a huge disconnect. That is, for instance, an ad says thereā€™s a 20% OFF Black Friday offer, the website says nothing about the Black Friday Offer, and the email flows still have the standard 10% OFF welcome discounts. This is where it starts getting messy.

What I recommend:

  • Hire an in-house team to do all of it

  • Or, hire freelancers to do it all if you think hiring an agency can get expensive, and them all to a common slack group, like you have a fractional team

  • Or, Hire one agency that can do it all, and well

  • Or, you can hire 3 different agencies, but make sure they can communicate to each other, such as having a common slack channel, so everyoneā€™s aware

Alright folks, thatā€™s it for today. Have a great weekend!
