Q&A’s WITH IBRAHIM

Heyyy!

So I received an interesting question this week, and it is primarily about acquiring customers. Since it’s such an important topic, I’m going to just focus on this one question for today’s issue.

Alright, let’s get into it..

Question from Sue (Everything Officer): What are some unique ways to get customers to my site or Etsy shop?

My Response: I’ll share everything I can think of below that’s top of my head, but you can always get more creative, mix things up, and run tests.

  1. Leverage user-generated content (UGC)

Encourage your customers to create and share content featuring your products. Offer incentives like discounts or free products for the best posts. Showcase this content on your website and social media to build credibility and make them feel a part of community.

  2. Create interactive product experiences

Enhance the shopping experience by introducing augmented reality (AR) features that allow customers to visualize products in their own space. For instance, if you sell home decor, enable users to see how items would look in their homes using their phone cameras. This is just one such example. This is also great for word of mouth!

  3. Offer limited-time drops or exclusives

Create excitement and urgency by offering exclusive product drops or limited-time collections. Announce these events on social media to generate buzz and anticipation. This strategy not only would drive traffic but also builds a sense of exclusivity around your brand!

  4. Host virtual events or workshops

Engage your audience by hosting virtual workshops, webinars, or live streams related to your products. For example, if you sell art supplies, you could host a live painting session. These events provide value to your customers and can position you as an expert in your niche, attracting a broader audience. This can actually be a game-changer for a lot of brands, especially brands just starting out!

  5. Collaborate with influencers and micro-influencers

Partner with influencers who align with your brand values and target audience. Micro-influencers, in particular would be a great place to start with!

  6. Engage in cause marketing

Align your brand with a cause that resonates with your audience. For instance, pledge a portion of your sales to a charitable organization. Promote this commitment on your website and social media to attract customers who share your values and want to support a good cause. I’ve seen this strategy work very well for a lot of brands.

  7. Create an immersive storytelling experience

Use storytelling to create an emotional connection with your audience. Share the journey of your brand or the story behind each product. Not to mention, customers love it when the brands share stories of what’s happening behind the scenes.

  8. Utilize Pinterest for inspiration marketing

Pinterest is a powerful platform for driving traffic, especially for visually appealing products. Create eye-catching boards and pins that link back to your site or shop. Use rich pins to provide additional information and encourage clicks. While the conversion rates may not be that high on Pinterest, you’ll see a lot lower CPMs

  9. Implement gamification elements

Includee gamification on your website to make the shopping experience more engaging. Add features like reward points, badges, or a spin-to-win discount wheel.

  10. Offer customization options

Allow customers to personalize their products to add value and create a unique shopping experience. This may not make sense for a lot of brands, and could have challenges with scale, but your goal should be to try a combo of personalisation + standardisation so it gets easier to scale.

  11. Run contests and giveaways

Host regular contests or giveaways to encourage user participation and social sharing. Make sure that the prizes are relevant and appealing to your target audience to maximize engagement.

  12. Optimize for local SEO

If your products cater to a local market, optimize your site for local SEO. Use location-specific keywords, create a Google My Business listing, and participate in local online communities. This approach can help drive targeted traffic to your site from potential customers in your area!

  13. Participate in relevant online communities

Join forums, Facebook groups, and Reddit communities that are relevant to your niche. Engage in discussions, offer valuable insights, and subtly mention your products or shop where appropriate. This can be a slow process, but still helpful in driving a decent amount of traffic.

  14. Leverage video content on social media

Create engaging video content for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Show behind-the-scenes looks, product demonstrations, etc. If you’ve already launched or just starting out, this should be a non-negotiable!

  15. Provide exceptional customer service

I guess this goes without saying, but deliver outstanding customer service to make your brand stand out. This should be one of your priorities!

  16. Create shoppable posts and pins

Use shoppable posts on Instagram and Pinterest to allow customers to purchase directly social media. This seamless shopping experience reduces friction and can lead to higher conversion rates..

  17. Explore affiliate marketing

Set up an affiliate program where others can promote your products in exchange for a commission on sales. Affiliates can drive traffic to your site from various channels, and you only pay them after a successful sale, and you pay them after a sale is made, and the fee would be mutually agreed—isn’t that cool?

Alright folks, that’s it for today.

Have a great weekend ahead!
