🚨 Major moves at Shopify
📰 TL;DR - Shopify has announced it’s offloading its logistics arm, calling it a “worthwhile side quest.” Logistics will now be going to Flexport, which is also getting Deliverr. Additionally, Shopify is selling 6 River Systems, a warehouse robot maker. Along with the shakeup, 20% of the company is getting laid off.
💡 Insight - The big question here is: what does this mean for me as a merchant? The biggest impact of these moves will be felt by employees and investors, but I want to focus on something else that was said. Shopify now intends to focus back on e-commerce software and the possibilities of AI. That suggests to me that they intend to double down on improving their core product and beefing up its tech capabilities. Of course, I’m just speculating, but one can hope.

🤖 Google Ads + ChatGPT = 🩵
📰 TL;DR - Here’s a practical guide on how to use ChatGPT (or really, the AI program of your choice) to support your Google Ads strategy. For example, you can give ChatGPT a link and ask it to create a Google Ads campaign structure. It can help generate categories, keywords, audiences, headlines, and more. Handy!
💡 Insight - Look, I’ve seen your clicks, and I know you all love some practical AI guides. And I love them too! For all the buzz and handwringing around ChatGPT, it has some incredibly practical and useful applications, and this is one of them. Again, I caution that AI is a great starting point, but also use some common sense and creativity to punch up what is suggests.
👾 Why this brand is investing in Twitch streamers
📰 TL;DR - Beauty brand Klorane is embarking on a new influencer strategy on Twitch. They’ve signed up a streamer, Baghera Jones, to play Red Dead Redemption 2 while looking for plants in the game — a nod to the brand’s natural ingredients. And the results are great: 75% of the audience watched the 3-hour stream until the end.
💡 Insight - I have a personal pet peeve about how marketers outside the gaming/tech world majorly overlook Twitch. It’s an incredibly established platform with millions of viewers, a plethora of niche streamers to work with, and audiences that engage with streams for hours on end. The tricker part is that gamer culture isn’t always the most brand-friendly, but if you pick the right partners I really think Twitch is a great opportunity for marketing.
