👛 Poshmark launches livestream shopping
📰 TL;DR - Resale platform Poshmark has launched Posh Shows, a live shopping feature that will let sellers do livestreaming sales. It's limited to Canada and the US for now and comes with features like auctions and creating listings on the fly. Users can also interact with emoji and comments/questions.
💡 Insight - I watched a few Posh Shows today and they're decently slick. There's been a lot of chatter about how livestream shopping hasn't taken off in North America, but I can actually see this being a use case. Secondhand items inherently have a scarcity factor because there's only one of any product. Platforms like Poshmark are also inherently social and encourage bidding. Poshmark must have also felt it was a good idea, despite the state of livestream shopping.
🤝 The 3 things to look for in an agency partner*
DTC marketing & ad agencies get a bad rep so we thought to outline the 3 most important things to look for in a great agency:
They should serve as a true strategic partner to their clients taking a holistic approach to everything
2. They should use proprietary strategies leveraging cutting-edge measurement tools to help drive data-driven decisions, especially pertinent in post-iOS 14.5 world
3. They would prioritize DTC business profitability, not just increasing ROAS
If an agency actually did all of these things, that would be THE dream agency, right?
Luckily for you, there is an agency that has a track record helping brands like Marine Layer, State & Liberty, Dose and many more grow, by doing exactly these 3 things!

👠 Use this tool to make your own virtual store
📰 TL;DR - Obsess has launched a new product that allows e-commerce brands to build their own virtual 3D storefront. Obsess has already created these experiences for brands like Ralph Lauren, but now they want to be like the Shopify of virtual stores. There are a bunch of examples on their website if you want to get an idea of what they can do. The costs are unclear, though there is an annual membership price to participate.
💡 Insight - Not having the pricing upfront makes me suspect this is a pricy product, but it's definitely interesting. To make these kinds of virtual experiences, you would need to hire all kinds of technical workers or partner with a company that specializes in them. This lets you take a DIY approach. While virtual stores are certainly neat, they may also encourage sales. When Tatcha combined theirs with an in-person experience, they saw a spike in sales.
🔥 How to optimize your UI
📰 TL;DR - Forbes asked a group of experts about how to level up the user interface on e-commerce sites and the results are a pretty interesting list. Some of the suggestions are pretty easy, like adding. a countdown timer on checkout pages. Some are a little more in-depth, like digging into customer behavior data.
💡 Insight - The goal here is really about making the shopping experience less frustrating. Frustration customers abandon carts, click away from your site, and are unlikely to return. You can treat this article as a bit of a checklist to evaluate where there's friction on your site. To be fair though, these are just some people's opinions. I know some of you won't agree with the "remove pop-ups" guy!
🔍 Where to find micro-influencers
📰 TL;DR - Here's a short and sweet list of platforms for micro-influencers. They're like search engines for influencers so you can find just the right ones that are a fit for your brand and product. Using a tool like this cuts out the guesswork of just scrolling through your feeds for frequent faces. Shopify obviously plugs its own platform, but there are others on the list worth looking at, too.
💡 Insight - The reigning philosophy in influencer marketing is that micro-influencers can offer major advantages. In addition to being cheaper than mega-famous influencers, they tend to have more engaged audiences, even if they're smaller. That makes every view and interaction more valuable to you. It's also a great place to start if you're just getting your feet wet with influencer marketing.
