🍏 Apple launches BNPL option
📰 TL;DR - After first announcing it way back in 2021, Apple Pay now has a buy-now-pay-later option. US shoppers can now split Apple Pay transactions into four payments over six weeks — all interest-fee if paid on time. Apple has an advantage over other BNPL apps with a recognizable and trustworthy name and the fact that so many people are already using Apple Pay anyway. Plus, it can all be tracked from the Apple Wallet.
💡 Insight - For e-comm brands, this couldn't be easier. If you already have Apple Pay enabled in your store, BNPL will now be an option for eligible users. If you want in, simply enable Apple Pay on your e-commerce platform of choice. We know that offering BNPL can increase conversions, and I can only imagine having it handled by Apple Pay will make it even more attractive to shoppers.

🤖 How Amazon sellers are using ChatGPT
📰 TL;DR - Amazon sellers are turning to ChatGPT to write product listings and the ones interviewed in this article seem pretty happy with it. One seller, who lists various kinds of household filters, said his conversion rate actually went up after sprucing his listings with ChatGPT's help. A big advantage of using AI like this is the time saved if you manage dozens or even hundreds of listings.
💡 Insight - There are certain places where I think a human touch matters, like on a stand-alone DTC site. But in a crowded marketplace like Amazon or Etsy, where SEO may trump branding, ChatGPT could prove very useful. This is especially true if you're new to selling and aren't exactly sure how to write compelling product info. I'd love to see someone run an A/B test of a listing written by ChatGPT and one written by an e-comm expert.
🍣 5 tips for food and bev brand newbies
📰 TL;DR - In the latest Shopify Masters podcast, they talked to the founder of Sanzo, a sparkling water brand. He had some tips for fellow founders in the food and beverage space, including really nailing down your product before digging into strategy. He also noted that this sector comes equipped with a lot of existing data you can lean on to develop your own brand, so need to just guess about trends.
💡 Insight - Food and bev is a unique DTC journey as you're more likely to look to wholesale than other sectors. Part of this founder's journey was understanding the grocery system, which you will inevitably encounter if you start a similar brand. I'm a fan of this podcast series because founders get really candid with the tips and tricks they've learned along their journey.
😎 Snap expands AR program for businesses
📰 TL;DR - Snap has launched AR Enterprise Services, a way for businesses to use the app's AR tech on their own apps and websites. That includes Snap's 3D Viewer, AR Try-on and Fit Finder. That allows customers to, for example, virtually try on clothes or accessories before buying. Brands could harness Snap's AR capabilities in the app, but this expands its potential applications.
💡 Insight - One of the reasons shoppers have been returning to retail is to get the chance to actually touch, feel, and try-on items. And while AR isn't exactly the same, it does bring the e-comm experience closer to IRL. According to Snap itself, using AR reduces returns. As well, nearly 75% of people in their survey said they were likely to buy clothes after trying them in an AR experience. Launching AR takes more time and money than still photos or even videos, but the impact could be huge.
